They talk about Bonbonbox: Huckleberry Hustler
Huckleberry Hustler wrote a very nice post about Bonbonbox!
Their favourite illustration is the one of the jumping pigs wearing underwear. Woowoo for the pigs!!
The webshop based in Dubai sells super cool and quirky kids wear by the Australian brand Minti.
My favourite:
Thank you very much for the nice words Hucklberry Huster! The pigs are honoured!

The 52 Week Illustration Challenge: Plane - Pink magic paper planes
Recently I am obsessed with Peter Pan collars and 50's skirts. I have collected tons of related pics (Pinterest addicted!) and have been thinking of doing some "fashion illustrations" for a while. Then I thought: why not adding a few planes to stick to this week's theme (52 Week Illustration Challenge)? So, here are my "Pink magic paper planes" :)

Work in progress: The Dutch-Australian project - Part 1
I am working on a wall sticker for a Dutch-Australian couple!
The drawing should combine Dutch and Australian elements and picture the couple's life in Sydney and the one of their relatives both in Australia and The Netherlands. It is quite a complex illustration, full of details (which I love!).
The couple sent me lots of pics of their happy family and their beautiful house, the parents' farm in The Netherlands, their cats and parrots. I had so much fun thinking how to combine all elements together.
The sticker will cover the wall of their baby's room.
I guess I especially love working on this project as I am a foreigner here in The Netherlands and Alex (my 8 months old son) is also born in between two cultures.
Here below the first part of the illustration. More to follow!

The flyer
I have been working on some marketing material in the past days. I am planning to make flyers or postcards. What do you think of the illustration below?
I have tried to fit as many incredible creatures as possible. The choice was tough...I should have included at least the dancng crocodile. Maybe in the next one.

The 52 Week Illustration Challenge: week 18 - Celestial Body
This week's theme of The 52 week illustration challenge was a tough one. In the beginning (poor ignorant me!) I thought of little chubby angels when I read "Celestial Body". Since little chubby angels are not really my piece of cake I thought of skipping this week. But then I made a little search and got pictures of all sort of planets, stars, etc. Of course! THOSE celestial bodies!
Still, I wasn't very inspired. Until I thought "MOON"! Then all kinds of possibilities started to pop up in my head. In the end I came up with "Dreaming in the moonlight". I know, you only see a little moon in the background. My mind takes strange tours sometimes...

The 52 week illustration challenge: week 17 - Horse
I have already talked about the great initiative by Tania McCartney called "The 52 week illustration challenge" here.
This week's theme was "horse". I have made two different versions, partially colored in Photoshop.
Which one do you like the most?

Preparing the webshop...
Today I got the print on canvas of "Red Riding Hood"!!! Soon available on my webshop! :D
Those on the background are random people's bikes and cars. Not my car and not my bike. I have a "fake" (=never used) driving license and a children-size Mickey Mouse bike(=almost never used) which I would never post on this blog. EVER.
If you are wondering if there is any connection between this story and Red Riding Hood, no there isn't. I often jump from one random topic to an even more random topic without any hidden agenda. My husband loves it, especially if he's trying to watch Top Gear on TV.

Collage
Recently I am more and more into experimenting and mixing different materials. I am especially fond of collage.
This is an illustration that I realized some time ago. The story of a Japanese grandma knitting flowers...
I was looking at it and got inspired to do more work like this! Collage is quite time consuming but so much fun :)

The 52 weeks illustration challenge
Modern technology can do miracles. Like bringing together artists from around the globe to share an experience.
Tania McCartney started The 52 Week Illustration Challenge a few weeks ago and her Facebook group has already 819 members! Anybody can join, both professionals and amateurs. Each week the artists challenge themselves with a new illustration based on a theme chosen by Tania: children, flowers, caravans and so on.
Tania started the initiative as a self challange to re-discover her illustration skills and she probably was not expecting to gather such an international participation and even attention from the media!
Tania has recently opened also a blog, where she posts her favourite images from each week.
I was so happy to see my illustration posted on her blog this morning!
I wish I had more time to take more active part to this initiative, it is so much fun!
Good luck Tania!
